'The laser goes through shell and engraves the two mini leaves that are already formed and these become exposed when the bean sprouts.' 'The message is imprinted onto the outside of the bean using a laser. 'Really it is meant to be a funny plant and we made it as a counter to other similar plants we have that have messages such as 'I Love You' and 'Be Mine' engraved on them.' Grant Cleveland, CEO of Dune Craft, said: 'I don't know if anyone will buy these as an actual way of breaking up with someone or just as a joke. The incredible product, which is created by burning a message through the bean shell onto the fully formed leaves underneath, are produced by Dune Craft, which sells various different plant and garden products. The beans are planted in the accompanying pot and as they sprout, the tiny message grows with the rest of the plant until it is fully visible among its leaves. The laser imprints the chosen words onto the outside bean, but it also penetrates the shell to engrave them onto the first tiny set of leaves which are already formed. They are created by carefully etching a message onto the lima beans using specialist laser equipment. 'Magic beans' are becoming an increasingly popular in the US as a unique alternative to sending a greeting card.
